Weeks later, after Beverly confronts and incapacitates her sexually abusive father, she is abducted by Pennywise. The group flees the house and begins to splinter, with only Bill and Beverly resolute in fighting It. As Pennywise gloats to Bill about Georgie, the Losers regroup and Beverly impales Pennywise through the head, forcing the clown to retreat. After another attack by Pennywise, the group ventures to the house to confront It, only to be separated and terrorized. They determine that It assumes the appearance of what they fear most, awakening every 27 years to feed on the children of Derry before returning to hibernation, and moves about by using the sewer lines, which all lead to an old stone well hidden under an abandoned house. Now calling themselves “The Losers Club”, they realize they are all being stalked by the same entity, which they refer to as “It”. Each member of the group has encountered terrifying manifestations of the same menacing clown who attacked Georgie: a headless undead boy, a sink that spews blood only children can see, a diseased and rotting leper, a disturbing painting come to life, Mike’s parents burning alive, and a frightening phantom of Georgie. Later, the group befriends orphan Mike Hanlon after defending him from Bowers. They find the sneaker of a missing girl named Betty Ripsom, while a member of the Bowers Gang, Patrick Hockstetter, is killed by Pennywise while searching the sewers for Ben.īeverly Marsh, a girl bullied over rumors of promiscuity, also joins the group both Bill and Ben develop feelings for her. Targeted by Bowers’ gang, Ben flees into the Barrens and meets Bill’s group. Ben Hanscom, one of Bill’s new classmates, learns that the town has been plagued by unexplained tragedies and child disappearances for centuries. He recruits his friends to investigate, believing Georgie may still be alive. Bill, still haunted by Georgie’s disappearance, calculates that his brother’s body may have washed up in a marshy wasteland called the Barrens. The following summer, Bill and his friends Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Stan Uris run afoul of older bully Henry Bowers and his gang. Pennywise entices Georgie to come closer, then bites his arm off and drags him into the sewer. As he attempts to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the drain, who introduces himself as “Pennywise the Dancing Clown”. Georgie sails the boat along the rainy streets of small town Derry, Maine, only to have it fall down a storm drain. In October 1988, Bill Denbrough crafts a paper sailboat for Georgie, his six-year-old brother. See more photos from this film, including UHD captures, in the gallery! With spectrophotometers such as the new MYIRO-1, ambient light, standardized viewing light and photographic light can be spectrally measured and evaluated according to standardized quality criteria (CRI, MI. The uniformity of the monitor is checked and documented according to current standards. The homogeneity of the monitor is checked and documented according to current standard This can be used to check whether a softproof is sensibly possible on this monitor. In addition to the monitor validation, a color space evaluation can be performed, which shows in advance of an emulation, whether the desired color space can be displayed on the monitor. To adapt several monitors to each other or to match colorimeters to a reference instrument, the white point on the monitor can be edited under visual and numerical control and saved to a profile. This optimizes calibration and profiling. Via DDC/CI commands also non-hardware-calibratable monitors can be adjusted in brightness and (partly) gray balance. This means that even with applications that are not color management capable, color correct work can be done (video editing, web design, medical applications, print color preview without conversion to CMYK.). Via the monitor hardware, any RGB and CMYK print color space can be emulated on suitable monitors. This ensures highest precision for brightness, black level, color temperature and gray balance. Supported monitors are hardware calibrated fully automatically. In addition to the features of basICColor display 6, the Pro version offers additional features that are unique in this combination. These standards and codes were developed through an international harmonization process, and are familiar to seafood-producing countries worldwide. The leading application for calibration and ICC-profiling of monitors of all kinds gets a high-end version at its side. Well integrated throughout the manual are the applicable provisions of the recommended international Codex standards for fish and shellfish products and the codes of hygienic and technological practice for handling and processing these products. For those engaged in international commerce in seafood, the manual should be especially useful. In addition, it is an outstanding contribution to the seafood industry in addressing a long-standing need for systems changes in the form of a single source manual, in contrast to the obsolete approach of having to access a library of multiple regulations and the affiliated agencies' bureaucracies to determine how and/or whether compliance with a particular regulation has been achieved. The manual represents a major advancement by providing a single source reference to all requirements, except for some specific end product and labeling requirements, for a highly complex global industry. They have been highly successful in achieving this objective and presenting a user friendly tool. The intent of the authors was to develop for users a manual that is easy to use, with a structured format to ensure compliance with governmental requirements. A first of its kind, the Seafood Regulatory Compliance Manual is a comprehensive work that comprises the myriad of governmental requirements and guidelines applicable to all aspects of seafood from harvest to the marketplace. 11).Īs such, the author is undoubtedly justified in devoting the first five chapters of this book to giving an overview and explanation of the philosophical thoughts of Plato (and Platonism) and of Aristotle (and Aristotelianism). He concentrated primarily on three important domains of theology: Theology proper, Christology and Anthropology (Pg. He then seeks to explain the philosophy in question. The author clarifies that he selected the material that is used in this book founded on the philosophy for the use of theologians. The drive of this book is to elucidate those major philosophical point of views so that the student of theology will be better able to comprehend the claims of the theologians that they are studying. What many theology students don’t recognize (possibly due to a gulf that was created between the fields of philosophy and theology, particularly obvious in protestant theology) is that all of the great theologians were influenced by the major philosophical views of their day. I have read fairly a few primers to philosophy, but this book is exceptional. Some might contest the truth of this statement, however, once one has read this book, it would be tough to, at the same time, preserve scholarly honesty and contest the truth of this statement. This is how this classic guide to the philosophical concepts that undergird Christian theology originates. Everyone needs to know some philosophy in order to understand the major doctrines of Christianity or to read a great theologian intelligently. The purpose of this book, as is stated quite regularly by the author, is “to give a person the philosophy needed to understand Christian theology better, for often the lack of knowledge of some key philosophic term or concept impedes significant understanding of a vital issue.” (Pg. Diogenes Allen (the author) even once said something like, 'Jesus by far demonstrates in just three parables more wisdom than any of the Philosophers in the mountains of writings they have done to explain what is and why.Īuthors: Diogenes Allen and Eric O. This author is a rare gift as He is as smart as any Philosopher I have ever heard of AND HE DOES know and talk about Jesus. I mean I am not nearly as smart as any of the Philosophers and so many of them never see or say one word about Jesus. I mean it most respectfully apart from the grace of God through Christ I would never find Him or know Him. It is nice to see the breadth of what proud human thinkers (geniuses) who minimize God AND His Son come up with as anchors for their souls. It can help you skip a mountain of reading of those authors who are more out of there minds or even anti spiritual. Through this book you can see which Philosophers contributed ideas that have influenced Christian thought in the more academic world. He did such a nice job summarizing just about everything you might want to know about Philosophy as a Christian or or student of theology. There are hundreds of burr coffee grinders and most start out around the $60 range. Ground coffee from a blade grinder will taste acrimonious: heavy and hollow, weak and strong at the same time. Ground coffee from a burr grinder will brew evenly, which is what makes coffee taste good. A burr grinder ensures that coffee is ground evenly, while a blade grinder chops coffee without abandon, leaving you with a mix of powdery grounds and almost whole bean pieces. This is the reason a grinder is a great gift for a coffee lover, but what makes the Baratza Encore, specifically, the tool to pick, is that it’s the highest-quality burr coffee grinder you can get at a relatively affordable price. Grinding coffee increases the surface area that’s exposed to oxygen, which speeds up the staling process, so having a tool that lets you grind coffee fresh is a big step in the right direction of making excellent coffee. It helps to think of coffee as a food-because it is! Coffee beans are actually a seed of a cherry, and when you grind coffee, it begins to go stale quickly. Pre-ground coffee usually smells pretty flat and doesn’t have the sparkle of a freshly-ground coffee. Coffee is full of aromatic compounds that are released when a coffee is ground, and you want to capture and keep as many of those nice-smelling aromatics as you brew. The first lesson I learned is that it’s important to grind coffee fresh. The very first shop I worked in had four different grinders, each costing thousands of dollars-and I’ve seen other coffee shops line up half a dozen or more grinders for different coffees and different brewing applications. I didn’t really understand this until I started working in coffee shops, and I saw these huge, industrial coffee grinders used for grinding beans. If you ask a barista what they think is the most important factor when it comes to brewing coffee, I’d bet most would say having a burr grinder. There’s one button on the front that you press to start grinding, and you adjust the grind setting by clicking the grinder either left (finer) or right (coarser). Using the Encore feels like watching a magic trick take place in front of you: in the hopper go whole beans and out the bottom chamber comes out perfectly ground coffee. The French team’s offer of $5.5 million over three years was lower than Toshiba’s, but the clincher was that the team would ride LeMond branded bikes. The deal was a bidding war between 7-Eleven, Toshiba and Z. Robert Millar in Cycle Sport Magazine, 1997. Since I knew Roger Legeay, who was relatively new to the job, it meant that he was able to talk to us on a person-to-person basis and not like he owned you, which had been the case up until then. I was glad to return to the spiritual successor to the old Peugeot squad. The astute, personable Legeay had tapped up LeMond at two key moments: in 1988 when he was at his lowest ebb after his shooting accident, and in 1989, the evening before LeMond took the yellow jersey for the first time in the Tour. Millar was an astute signing for 1989, winning a Tour stage and finishing in the top 10, but for 1990, Legeay and Zannier pulled off the ultimate coup de pub and dragged cycling into the 90s with a multi-million dollar deal for Greg LeMond, who had just won what most regard as the greatest Tour ever by 8sec from Laurent Fignon. Vêtements Z-Peugeot Cycling Team postcard from 1989 Plus, Zannier was a hands-on sponsor, who would let a mechanic or soigneur drive his Ferrari when the team was racing near his Saint Etienne base and he would jump into a team car for the day. Philippa York, who as Robert Millar was the team’s leader in 1989, recalled a family atmosphere, thanks in part to the fact that most of the team riders and staff were from Peugeot, and the management - Leugeay, Serge Beucherie, Michel Laurent - had ridden for the old team. In that respect, it was of its time, as cycling moved rapidly into the modern incarnation we know today. Like the equally radical La Vie Claire jersey, the design was possible only because of new printing techniques: Legeay recalled that it shocked some, but the consensus was that it was a “young” design. The only addition was an explanatory vêtements enfants in a typescript deliberately resembling a child’s handwriting, which appeared on the jersey from 1988. The two Rogers were on the sub-group that designed the jersey: “the logo was already there, and the deep blue was the company’s color,” Legeay told me. Vêtements Z-Peugeot Cycling Team postcard from 1988 At the point where Zannier and Legeay joined forces, the company was just expanding into the high street. The brand had been launched 30 years later: clothing from A to Z was the marketing blurb. He and his sister Josette had founded their clothing makers in 1962, armed with only a pair of sewing machines. It was a quick decision because Zannier was the company’s only decision-maker. The deal was sealed in the four-week window which was all the time that another Roger, Peugeot manager (and former rider) Legeay had to play with between Peugeot telling him they were pulling out, and the team being disbanded. Z made a timely entry after their founder Roger Zannier spotted during the 1986 Tour that Peugeot needed a new sponsor. Or rather, who would watch the Tour de France. This was headed at a different market: women who would watch cycling on daytime television. Traditionally these had been basic consumer products for men: sausages, cigarettes, booze, radios, cars. The Z children’s clothing company was one of a new wave of cycling extra-sportif sponsors. Peugeot had been cycling’s last factory team, solely sponsored by a bike maker. It was a radical look for a radical moment. Vêtements Z-Peugeot Cycling Team postcard from 1987 The Z team kit launched on the public in 1987 was all that and more: a deep blue with that comic-book biff-kapow-burst Z in a rip-look “window”.įor the time it was utterly radical, the more so because it replaced France’s most traditional jersey design: Peugeot’s black and white checkerboard with its heritage going back to the dawns of cycling in the 19th century. The great cycling kit designs always divide opinion, but they have another thing in common: they are always utterly memorable. Greg Lemond, Robert Millar and Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle all rode in the famous comic-book-inspired team jersey.
